Acoustic Notes by CES
Hi. The Troubadour is holding a $1000 Talent Contest commencing October 28, it will run for 21 weeks and consists of 16 heats of 4 acts a night, then 4 semi finals. The four finalists will then vie for the prize money, with $500 going to first place, $250 going to second place, $150 to third and $100 to fourth place. The contest is open to ALL self-contained acts with the aim of adding more high calibre musicians to the Troubadour’s booking list. For auditions ring Andrew Patterson on 26 4409.
Tim O’Brien, Paradiddle and Yasmin & The Tealeaves, all recording on Panhandle, are doing a series of promotional concerts for Moondance Promotions. The first is on Oct 28 at Melb. Uni, then Nov 4 at Deakin, and at La Trobe on Nov 19.
Only 1000 copies of Jimmy Witherspoon’s ‘Spoon in Australia’ recorded earlier this year were pressed and are rapidly becoming collectors items. Some are still available at your local retail store through Larrikin.
