Olovson Presents a Subtle Study in Emotional Resonance with ‘UNTANGLE’

Following the acclaim of his debut Storytelling, Swedish-born, LA-based composer Olovson returns with ‘UNTANGLE’, the title track from his forthcoming album, released via his own imprint 1136 Diamond. Already earning a spot on Spotify’s New Music Friday Sweden, the track continues the trajectory set by his first single, THINGS I COULD’VE LEFT BEHIND, which captured the attention of NPR Music, KCRW, and KEXP.

Olovson, who has previously lent his touch to Grammy-winning productions for the likes of Frank Ocean, Dua Lipa, and Mark Ronson, steps into a new, intimate light here, his own voice now at the centre. ‘UNTANGLE’ is a study in restraint: pulsating sub-bass, the quiet rhythm of footsteps, and Olovson’s delicate falsetto coalesce into a space that is simultaneously meditative and raw. The track ebbs and flows between shadow and light, grief and release, offering a soundscape that feels as much about letting go as it does about holding on.

“This song is about untangling the emotions and patterns you carry, and realising you’re allowed to let go — and coming out on the other side feeling more at peace”

With ‘UNTANGLE’, Olovson expands his sonic palette, introducing a bold vocal presence while maintaining the cinematic sensitivity that defined his debut. Fans of James Blake, Sampha, and Blood Orange will find familiar ground in the way raw emotion and meticulous production quietly intersect.

It’s a track that feels both intensely personal and quietly universal, a gentle, resonant exploration of transformation that lingers long after the final note.
