After making his solo debut in early 2023 with an impressive string of polished trap singles, Liberian-Australian rapper Adlipzs takes off to new heights on his new single NASA.
Australia’s answer to the Migos, Adlipzs proudly wears his Offset influence on the new track, flowing in triplets over melodic, reverb-drenched guitar licks, bouncing 808s and tight trap percussion, displaying his smooth vocals and delivery on an infectious hook complete with his eponymous adlibs.
The hypnotic track gives listeners the feeling of soaring through space alongside Adlipzs, the instrumental providing the celestial feeling while his vocals glide over the beat effortlessly and weightlessly. Speaking on the meaning behind the track, Adlipzs shares that the song is about setting goals and speaking things into existence, no matter how unlikely they seem:
“Never give up, always manifest and believe in yourself, no matter the circumstances, and always put God first in whatever you do.”
At the same time as being an anthem for perseverance, the track also comes from a more retrospective place, with Adlipzs reminiscing about the childlike wonder of learning about the mysteries of the universe and abundances of the solar system growing up, trying to recapture that feeling of awe.
For Cyrus Gbatu, it has been a long journey to get to this point in his musical pursuits. Growing up learning music through his church band, his love of contemporary trap and hip hop music inspired him to form the group GRÆ8 in 2020 with collaborators Deuc3z and Darius Vèvo, adopting his stage name of Adlipzs before branching out on his new solo venture in 2023.
To accompany the release of the song, Adlipzs has collaborated with Maxed Out Films (music video portfolio including ONEFOUR, 1300, Triple One and more) and Sydney director Herbert Leota to create a futuristic, sci-fi inspired music video that matches the lustrous production of the NASA single. These visuals will premiere on Adlipzs’ YouTube channel on Sunday, October 1st for listeners wanting to get the full experience.
