The Port Phillip Mussel & Jazz Festival celebrates its fifth birthday this year and this is one seafood street party you don’t want to miss! Spend the day in the sun with friends and family, feasting, dancing and celebrating seafood, all to the sounds of Melbourne’s hottest jazz.

Sat 10 & Sun 11 March from 12pm – late.

Mussels Galore

Enjoy a traditional bowl of piping hot mussels with a hint of chilli and tomato, or mussels served with lemongrass infused coconut cream, ginger, chilli, garlic, lime and coriander. It’s all about the mussel at this festival, and with so many amazing flavours, you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Don’t Like Seafood?

Love jazz but hate seafood? We’ll have plenty of other tasty food options including incredible cheesy raclette and handmade Dutch street food. For the sweet tooths, treat yourself to a salted caramel and popcorn fudge puppy or a traditional Mexican ice-cream.

Bar & Drinks

What’s a festival without a refreshing beverage? Simply Spanish will be serving ice-cold beers, wine and sangria – the perfect accompaniment to a bowl of steaming hot mussels. Those Girls Iced Tea will also be bringing their unique and exotic blends to cool you down.

Insta Photo Comp

Our favourite Insta photo comp is back for 2018 and you could win a $200 Market voucher! Simply follow us on Insta and share your Mussel Festival experience using #ppmusselfestival and #southmelbournemarket. Check out our website for more details.

Shuck Don’t Chuck

With up to six tonnes of mussels consumed over the weekend, we sure create a lot of shellfish waste. We’ve teamed up with The Nature Conservancy and we’ll be recycling these shells to rebuild shellfish reefs in Port Phillip Bay! Simply put your shells into the correct black bins at the festival.

Family Fun

Bring the kids along and enjoy the Mussel Festival together as a family. There will be face painting, the Bouncing Beach Patrol stilt walkers, and everybody’s favourite Elvis who’ll have all ages up and dancing.
