I have been drinking this wine for years, some vintages are better than others but they are always a pleasure to drink.
All the 2021 Southern Rhone wines I have tried have been rather dark and have more up-front acid than usual.
Anyway the wine is rather a dark red / purple in the glass with the aroma of black ripe fruit wafting up from the glass with intense red cherry, raspberry and blackberry notes with that ever-present lick of liquorice intertwined with that old world nose that makes this wine so enjoyable.
In the mouth: This wine is fresh with a velvet-like softness to all the above-mentioned fruit swirling around the glass releasing whiffs of red meat, All said and done this might just be the wine bargain of the year.
The wine will cellar for 5 to 6 years I wouldn’t expect it to last any longer than that. Not in my cellar!
If you know this wine I would suggest grabbing as much as you can afford because the price will go up as stocks run low, it is a dam good wine.
Michael Lillis
the Rot has set in.
The truth is this style of wine goes with casseroles, lamb shanks that style of thing, it’s not a fine dining style of wine.
For myself I just drink and enjoy the wine by its self.
For what it is. A good, honest bottle of wine.
Just wish I could afford to buy a lot more of this vintage!
