Creation Creation

Fairfax Studio, 19 – 20 August

Two fearless creators will step onto the stage and attempt to unravel the mysteries of the universe for Children and their Families in Windmill Theatre Company’s Creation Creation at Arts Centre Melbourne’s Fairfax Theatre between 19-20 August.

How did we get here? Are aliens real? And is it possible to lick your elbow? Based on interviews with members of the community aged between 8-102, Creation Creation is a comedy about life’s biggest mysteries. A world of wonder will be on the cards as this playful work invites the audience to approach the big ideas in a fun, performative arena. It’s a wild theatrical experiment for the curious among us.

“This spirit of invention was something that bound each and every interview we had the fortune of conducting. At its core, this show is a celebration of the creativity and diversity that makes our community so wonderful, said Co-Creator Rosemary Myers.

Performers Fleur and Jox will do their best to answer your burning questions using whatever tools are at their disposal – cardboard boxes become battleships and ping pong balls become planets in a hilarious explosion of art, sculpture and puppetry.

Every performance of Creation Creation will also be AUSLAN interpreted with Dan Cleasby rounding out an extremely talented on-stage cast.

“This work is driven by an inherent challenge to stage answers to the big questions our project interviewees have shared with us. We’ve taken these questions as a challenge for the performers, who use any means at their disposal to embody the answers using their phenomenal inventiveness and charisma,” said Myers.

“Spectacularly imaginative…The massive monochrome set of white cardboard cutout shapes provides a blank canvas for all sorts of creativity to unfold – at times quite literally.” – The Advertiser

“Uproarious… Creation Creation is a brave and brilliantly inclusive concept from Windmill.” – In Daily

“Mesmerising and surprising… Creation Creation is top-notch at every level, with an absolutely fantastic score.” – ABC Smart Arts
