2016 is widely regarded as one of the best vintage from this Chateau.
A blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot
On the nose: This wine is nicely perfumed and layered with black fruits, blackcurrants, blackberries and purple flowers laced with spiced oak notes.
In the glass: The blackcurrant fruits are at the forefront with ripe well-balanced tannins that hint at being mouth-watering.
To spite the wine’s bold fruit with its full to medium body it finishes light in the mouth soft tannins enhance this.
I found it to be rather elegant, and a classic style of Medoc.
I would also like to point out the wines from Chateau Chasse Spleen have a solid history of improving over time with a decade or so bottle age.
Michael Lillis
the Rot has set in.
On this occasion the wine is both elegant and classical so I felt it needed the same from the food.
Still keep it simple:
Roast beef with roast veg in a light pan made gravy.
(Please don’t use a packet mix gravy) They have little to no flavour.
