LOS CHICOS’ NOVEMBER TOUR, WHICH STARTED IN MELBOURNE LAST NIGHT, INCLUDES SHOWS WITH PRIVATE FUNCTION, HARD-ONS, NEW CHRISTS & MORE
Genre-hopping Spanish pub-rock/garage-punk/country/gospel/soul luminaries LOS CHICOS today release the new album Never Is Too Much, having kicked off their SEVENTH Australian tour in Melbourne last night!
The new album, their EIGHTH, is out on Cheersquad Records & Tapes and was produced the great Mike Mariconda, guitarist of the legendary Raunch Hands and producer of classic albums by the Cosmic Psychos, Powder Monkeys and New Bomb Turks amongst others.
The band, which has previously played Boogie and River Rocks festivals as well as having toured twice with Radio Birdman, will be returning to River Rocks. They will also be sharing stages with a couple of bands they’re released on their FOLC (Friends of Los Chicos) Records label – Private Function and the Hard-Ons, as well as Cheersquad label mates JJ McCann Transmission, and others including Mach Pelican and the New Christs. Their 8th LP, Never Is Too Much, is coming out just months before the band hits their 25th year blasting tunes and firing joy from stages all over the world.
The record, produced by the legendary Mike Mariconda (The Raunch Hands, New Bomb Turks, Cosmic Psychos, Powder Monkeys…) offers the best tunes and performances these five Spaniards have achieved in their whole history.
Full of guitars that mix pub-rock with the best tradition of Aussie high-energy, melodies that stick to your soul, a rhythm section to die for, and lyrics that work like a good 70s movie about friendship, coming of age, treason, and hope, this album drives you through the crossroads of life making you feel ALIVE.
In this music there are parties au-go-go and energetic after-hours joy, but also reflections about what it means to look back, to be left behind, to feel you’ve had enough.
All those concepts get connected, through Los Chicos absolutely unique style, to a feeling of hope that transpires in songs that take the hand of the listener swearing that there’s always a second chance.
Never Is Too Much grabs you by the neck and doesn’t let go, but the energy it bombs makes you feel ready to take on the world, as if you had a loyal friend by your side, giving you strength to face whatever comes your way, one more day.
Electrocuted by the sheer gratification obtained by achieving this feat on record, Los Chicos are coming to their home away from home, Australia for the 7th time.
After shocking crowds at Boogie festival (breaking one stage!), River Rocks and touring (twice!) with Radio Birdman, these five music junkies will join premium delights like The Hard-Ons, Private Function and The New Christs, with a mission: launch their new tunes and have the biggest of the biggest parties on explosive concerts where they’ll take their audience higher, and higher… and higher!
These guys do not fail. Get ready to testify, join in, let loose, and SMILE. This is what REAL ROCK AND ROLL feels like.
Never Is Too Much is out now!
