Women@LowieLive brings you an exciting winter event this June to keep you warm and toasty. For this Songs in the Round session we have Amla, Maylene Yinarr, Nina Rose and Karina Lehman – all bringing their unique flavour to the stage. Come and join us for an evening of heartfelt and soulful music.
Amla:
Amla is a multi-instrumentalist (flautist, violinist & vocalist) & composer who creates original and improvised ethereal and worldly soundscapes. Informed by her Classical background in flute and years of experience in a diverse range of musical genres with other musicians (Latin pop, Electronic, Mariachi, Celtic Folk, Jazz, Flamenco, to name a few), she floats through carefully crafted melodies and emotive lines that take you on an exciting journey.
Maylene Yinarr :
Maylene Yinarr is a Kamilaroi, Wiradjuri, Kuku Djungan and Gangalidda Victorian song woman. Her performances are a blend of music and healing. Her voice carries any listener to a world of instincts and vulnerability as a reminder that we are only human. Maylene’s collection of original music solidifies her outstanding knack for song-writing and melody. Beginning a collaboration with Melbourne-based soul band, The Deans of Soul, Maylene released her debut single, This Is For Us in 2023 as part of the Singing Our Futures Program presented by the Archie Roach Foundation.
Nina Rose:
Nina is a Naarm based singer songwriter; she shares stories weaved into her folk roots (folk mixed with country, add a bit of RNB and reggae too!). She loves collaborating with a wide range of musicians,because music is about community and connection.Nina Rose’s music shines through with a realness that is rare and charming. Her songs will lift you up, shake you up and have you coming back for more.
Karina Lehman:
Karina Lehman is a Chilean/Australian singer-songwriter. Her original music mixes Latin rhythms, harmonies and Spanish guitar while embracing elements of pop, bossa nova, jazz and folk. Some of her musical influences are Natalia Lafourcade, Perota Chingo, Lido Pimienta and Marissa Monte to name a few. She debuted with her solo project in April 2020 with the song ‘Son de la Luna Dormida’ and since then Karina has continued her musical journey experimenting with different sounds, styles and vocal loop pedals. This year marks Karina’s debut with a fresh style, introducing songs that lean towards electronic and pop influences. Expect vibrant tracks brimming with vocal harmonies, synthesizers, and irresistible beats designed to get you dancing. Her new EP promises to be a dynamic fusion of sound and style, showcasing Karina’s versatility as an artist.
