gather your friends to come and see some fabulous art this winter

We Dance with Ghosts pays homage to the many musical recitals and parties hosted by the Michaelis Family, the original inhabitants of the house we now call Linden New Art. Alumni Musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) will perform throughout the evening, inspired by Vittoria Di Stefano’s exhibition Pears on a Willow.

Di Stefano’s site-specific sculptural exhibition Pears on a Willow explores the poetics of domestic spaces and their embedded histories. The work has been informed by Di Stefano’s research of the Linden site itself, a family home originally built for Jewish immigrant Moritz Michaelis and his family in the nineteenth century, and its use as a venue for musical recitals, gatherings and fundraising events.

Featuring percussionist Zela Papageorgiou and cellist Hamish JamiesonWe Dance with Ghosts seeks to draw out the history of the iconic mansion. The evening will be a unique and intimate opportunity to view our current exhibitions by Juncture Prize winners Vittoria Di Stefano and Shivanjani Lal, and to gather with friends in the spirit of past convivial musical soirees hosted at Linden in the nineteenth and early twentieth century.

We encourage you to choose an outfit that makes you feel fabulous and fits the festive mood of the evening – looking forward to having you join us for what will be a memorable evening of music, art and wine at Linden New Art.
