Emerging from the not-quite-city-life suburbia of greater Melbourne, trombonist Chris Rozakeas seeks to present a personal synthesis of the contemporary Black American tradition with local Australian musicality. His all-new quartet, debuting at the Uptown Jazz Cafe, will play two sets of original compositions, select standards and bleeding-edge tunes both from here and across the pond.
Chris’ work draws upon young New York luminaries such as Giveton Gelin, Kalia Vandever, Immanuel Wilkins and Joel Ross, as well as local musical innovators including Andrea Keller, Aaron Choulai, James Macaulay and Niran Dasika.
