DRIFTING IN SILENCE

Everything Beyond This Moment “Single, out August 11, 2026 on Labile Records

Ambient/modern classical/solo piano
Composed, performed, and produced by Derrick Stembridge

A labyrinth is not a maze. There is nothing to solve and no wrong turn. The path only appears to lead you away from the centre.

That is the shape of this piece. The piano circles, returning to the same few notes from a slightly different angle each time, moving inward rather than forward. A single sustained tone holds underneath it, the wall you keep passing on your left. Then the last turn opens, and the light is there, and it was always there, waiting at the end of a walk that could not have been shortened.

Drifting In Silence is the ambient project of composer Derrick Stembridge, working in this register since 2006. The catalog spans releases through Labile Records with mastering by Rafael Anton Irisarri, sync placements in film and television, and a music video for “Metamorphosis” honored at a Tokyo film festival. Music for deep attention and quiet rooms.

“Everything Beyond This Moment” arrives August 11, 2026.
