WAM is proud to announce that WA’s premier music conference, WAMCon, will be returning to the State Theatre Centre of WA on Friday 26 – Saturday 27 March as part of WA Music Week presented by Act Belong Commit. WAM is excited to take WAMCon to new levels in 2021 with a hybrid in-person and digital format enabling attendees from all corners of the state to engage with the career-bolstering opportunity.

The 2021 conference features a carefully curated program of in-person and digitally streamed panels, presentations, and networking activities, providing an accessable opportunity for the home-grown industry to learn, engage and interact with the wider music sector.

The first WAMCon reveal boasts an impressive and diverse selection of local, national and international industry speakers. Attendees will be treated to keynote presentations from international cultural icon Sub Pop Records and 8Stem Interactive Music co-founder Bruce Pavitt (US), Berklee College of Music Professor and multi-platinum-earning record producer Susan Rogers (US), plus multi-awarding winning artists Zaachariaha Fielding and Michael Ross of Electric Fields (SA); and Water & Music Publisher and Founder, music and tech guru Cherie Hu (US). They’ll be joined by Australian industry experts Jonathon Harrison (Spotify Australia), Amy Vee (Listen Up Music), Patricia Adjei (Australia Council for the Arts), Brodie Popple (New World Artists) and more. The full list of speakers can be viewed here.

WAM Industry Development Officer and WAMCon DirectorClaire Hodgson says of the event, ‘In light of the challenges the music industry has faced in the past 12 months, we’re excited to be presenting the first ever hybrid WAMCon event which will feature opportunities to engage both online and in-person!

‘This year’s conference aims to provide a highly-inclusive space for musicians, industry representatives and music fans to come together to discuss and share ideas, celebrate the innovation and opportunities that have come about in response to the challenges posed by the pandemic, and though this navigate their own path forward as part of the industry’s road to recovery.’

In addition to the two-day conference program, Professor Susan Rogers and Anna Laverty are teaming up for an exclusive music production workshop and Q&A on Saturday 20 March. The online workshop Sonic Signatures & Psychoacoustics will dive into the fascinating world of sound perception, and is a must attend for any budding or established sound engineer. Tickets are now available here.

With a continued focus on supporting all levels of the WA music community, WAM have introduced a WAMCon 2021 Free Virtual Pass, providing ticket holders open access to all online WAMCon sessions. Attendees also have the option to purchase a single, or two-day Hybrid Pass providing them access to both in-person and online sessions, lunch and speed dating networking meetings.
