Sharing the theatre with FACING UP this week is Kalina Lauer’s brand new magical short play BAYOU BART. Set in the deep south in the late 1800s, BAYOU BART follows a classic narrative about a boy, Henri finding his way home, but upon doing so, he stumbles into a land he was never supposed to find and a fight he was never supposed to be a part of.

An action-packed graphic-novel fiction fantasy erupting on the Theatre Works stage, MOTH is a love-letter to every teen… and to those who used to be.
In this funny and heartbreaking two-hander what starts as just another night drinking down at the cricket nets soon gives way to an ecstatic vision that leaves fifteen-year-old Sebastian unconscious and his only friend, Claryssa, gone. Waking to find a mysterious moth by his bed, Sebastian spirals into a breathless ride of schizophrenic delusion and religious passion, living life at a feverish pitch that can only lead to tragedy.

“I think it’s hard to say that every single person is completely guilt free of having been cruel to someone at some time in their lives. It’s a horrid part of human nature sadly. But if young people see MOTH and question for themselves if they can be better and kinder to their friends or to strangers, that’s a win.”
Currently in their final week of rehearsals for MOTH by Declan Greene, we catch up with performer Adam Noviello about the play and their approach to playing a complex character grappling with mental health.
