Ulster American by David Ireland lets loose three great actors, some utterly incendiary writing and good dose of abandon. Sound like a fun night at Red Stitch? Yep.
Directed by ensemble member Brett Cousins, Ulster American brings ensemble members Sarah Sutherland and David Whiteley together onstage for the first time in a decade, joined by the inimitable Steve Bastoni in his first role with Red Stitch.
A playwright, a director and a movie star throw their livelihoods, egos and political persuasions at one another in the hope of making great art and defending their identities. Each has a lot to lose, a lot to gain, and not a lot of time to do it. Power, privilege and the entertainment biz go under the scalpel in this hilarious, provocative play.
Ulster American is realised with utter finesse and fire in this Victorian premiere production. Book now: it’ll go fast.
