In History this may be seen a short, terrifying and brilliant speech. A turning point.
In it he states that Americans will say “Merry Christmas” again.
It’s only a small line, but i suspect that that alone will him a second term.
In my last job the corporate leaders killed Christmas. One year they changed the name of the “The Christmas Party” to a “Thank You party. Stating that Christmas party made the gathering exclusive. Meaning, to many, that they were saying that Christmas was bad.
They had well worded explanations, but o many it was clear what they were saying.
There was deep discontent amongst the ranks but it was kept silent out of a fear of people losing their jobs. For if you publicly took the company on you could be sacked.
Basically they steamed rolled over something that many saw as precious.
Now we have Trump. A man who say what he wants, when he wants and promising to many people who feel that the pendulum of political correctness has swung way to far to the left, a way to hit back:
“Vote for him!”
He doesn’t give shit either way, but he’s not an idiot.
He’s a surfer riding a populist wave of people who are feeling more and more disempowered, and so far, in order to stay up, far he seems determined to ride this wave all the way to the end of political correctness.
