Punctuated by moments of catharsis and joy, BIG HEART is the story of a woman who adopts a child from each of the continents. She believes she offers the children a better life, free from poverty, war, or neglect.
Known for their multi-award winning production SHIT(2015) and a fearless approach to theatre-making, Dee and Cornelius place Australian identity at the centre of a cross-examination from all corners of the globe. It’s a show that explores the themes of multiculturalism, racism and the love between mother and child.

Inspired by New York City’s Lincoln Center model, Directors Lab: Melbourne is a FREE eight-day creative laboratory for professional theatre directors presented by Theatre Works in partnership with Melbourne Festival.
The annual program accepts 30 directors from across Australia and the world, to participate in eight days of masterclasses, performance and rigorous debate with leading national and international theatre makers.
In 2016, over 65 artists were engaged in the Lab, with participating directors attending from across Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Spain. Guest directors have included Peter Sellars (US), Moisés Kaufman (US), Robert Lepage (Canada) and Gob Squad (Berlin).
