Today I’d like to explore the Concept of Network Synergy, and how you can utilise it to change your life and achieve your goals!
Before the importance of money got somewhat out of control and became an obsession rather than a tool, we used to rely on our community. The most important thing in our lives wasn’t money, but the people in our community. Your life was focused on being a part of your community – you contributed in your way, and your community, in turn, received the contributions of others. This community was our Village.
In a village, everyone has their role and contributes using their own unique set of skills and talents. It’s also understood that not everyone can contribute equally, and, as long as everyone contributes, it all comes together in the end.
This same frame of mind is translated into Network Synergies. We accept that not everyone can contribute equally. It’s all about how you perceive the big picture.
The idea of Network Synergy is to build, leverage and reward active business and social networks. In practice, this means ensuring everyone has equity in every business and project. With that shared equity, you can create a shared purpose – a synergy born of your network – and extraordinary results follow.
You can build your Network Synergies by creating your Village, growing it, and helping your fellow peers support each other to work towards shared goals. To do this, we follow our four-step process.
Step One – Build your Village
To build your Village, you need to explore and expand your social and business networks.
Create a list of all the people you know, and their skill sets and goals. Then, list all your skills and goals. You want to have a clear idea of what you want to achieve before you get started.
Start with your family – invite them to join your projects and offer to join theirs. Offer incentives, such as equity, to share the workload and the profit. Then, add friends from your social networks and colleagues from your business network, in the same way.
Step Two – Communicate
When you begin connecting with these new people, you can begin by discussing your ideas; for new business, projects, and ways to invest or goals you want to achieve.
Take the time to make and communicate your plans. While everyone has ideas, most haven’t taken the time to plan them out. Talking about your plan sets you apart as someone who is going to make it happen.
Lastly, ensure that you listen to others. Engage with them and ask what their ideas and plans are. This is a great way to learn what skills they have and to help grow your network.
Step Three – Make a Contribution
The strength of your community starts with your contribution. What is the first thing you can contribute? Your time. Even when you cannot contribute anything else, you can always give your time.
That’s what I did. I came from no money and had to break my way through. You can do the same. Even now, I still give away my most precious resource; my time. It’s my way of building Network Synergy.
Step Four – Build Momentum
The last concept in Network Synergy is to build – and maintain – momentum. Working on a new project or business can be a long process, so it’s important to keep people motivated. Like laughter, motivation is contagious. So, celebrate all the wins, even the small ones. Keep track of the losses, finding lessons in each one, and share your insights with the Village.
