Mick created TAGG - The Alternative Gig Guide in 1979 with Helmut Katterl, the world's first real Street Magazine. He had been involved with his fathers publishing business, Toorak Times and associated publications since 1972.  Mick was also involved in Melbourne's music scene for a number of years opening venues, discovering and managing bands and providing information and support for the industry. Mick has also created a number of local festivals and is involved in not for profit and supporting local charities.

Like every good book, our festival starts with a prologue giving you a preview of what is to come in the months ahead.

Our PROLOGUE outlines the backbone of regular monthly events featuring local authors, panel discussions, debates, spoken word, discussions, literary luncheons, and a variety of related activities.

The official launch will be at the start of Chapter 1 in late June

St Kilda Writers Week has been renamed as St Kilda Writers Festival, the people have spoken!!!And we intend to weather the storm of a hindrance to the arts during continual waves of the COVIDS through a series of Chapters culminating in November for an all-inclusive arts festival running for 7-10 days in conjunction with St Kilda Art Crawl.

(We figure if we make smaller targets the pandemic can’t simply threaten to kill us off as it has 4 and a bit times so far planning an annual event, stuff it we are going annual, literately once a month!)

CHAPTERS will reveal many sides to the literary culture within St Kilda and the broader City of Port Phillip, from authors to libraries, we wish to celebrate the wonderful world of the word.
