Mount Buffalo Chalet

With record-breaking snowfall coming to Victoria this winter, we are reflecting on one of our state’s great alpine beauties: Mount Buffalo Chalet. For more than 100 years, the chalet provided a leisurely holiday escape for all manner of guests and tourists as Australia’s first ski resort. Now closed, it faces an uncertain future.

The books that have ruled our schools

Victorian school readers

To celebrate 150 years of public education in Victoria, we’re taking a look at educational texts from the 19th and 20th centuries, including school readers. These anthologised collections of texts have helped countless school children learn their curriculum and grow their imaginations through the power of literature.
