Los Angeles-based project Sis and the Lower Wisdom, led by singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Jenny Gillespie Mason, continues to push the boundaries of sonic exploration with their upcoming album ‘Saints and Aliens’. A shapeshifting celebration of life and connection, the project merges intimate, homespun experiments with the collaborative energy of a skilled LA collective.
The album’s second single, “Crocus Man,” glides effortlessly across the alternative jazz-pop spectrum. Rhodes piano, shimmering synths, fluid basslines, brass accents, and intricate percussion intertwine, creating a composition that feels both spontaneous and meticulously crafted. Mason describes the track as a love letter to a dear friend, capturing their indomitable spirit and joie de vivre.
With echoes of The Weather Station, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, and Alice Coltrane, “Crocus Man” invites listeners to slow down and immerse themselves in a soundscape that is both luminous and deeply human. Ahead of Saints and Aliens’ January release, the single offers a compelling glimpse into an album that navigates the outer cosmos and inner life with rare grace.
