In a groundbreaking move to amplify female voices in the music industry, acclaimed Indian American artist and creative entrepreneur Simantinee Roy is inviting women to join her creative platform, Spotlife Studio. This initiative is a call for female musical artists to step into the spotlight, showcase their talent, and shatter industry barriers.
Simantinee Roy is a dynamic force, seamlessly blending her expertise in both the corporate and artistic worlds. She holds a diploma in Indian Classical Music (Sangeet Visharad) and is a former All India Radio artist. Academically accomplished with an M.Tech in Urban Planning and an MBA, she has built a career that spans corporate strategy and music, innovating in both sectors.
A celebrated performer, Simantinee has shared the stage with Bollywood icons like Bappi Lahiri, Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal, Nora Fatehi, and Sajid-Wajid. Her journey as a lymphoma cancer survivor, a beauty pageant titleholder, and a corporate leader recognized among the top women in her field has made her an inspiration to many.
“As a woman of South Asian origin, I know the challenges and determination required to enter the music industry. With Spotlife Studio, I want to create a space where women can find their voice, share their stories, and avoid some of the struggles I faced in my own journey,” says Simantinee Roy.
Spotlife Studio has already made a mark in the industry. In May 2023, Simantinee partnered with Saregama, India’s oldest and most prestigious music label, to launch Saregama Openstage in North America. In just six months, this initiative has helped over 100 South Asian artists gain a global platform. Now, she is expanding this opportunity specifically for female artists, creating an inclusive and supportive environment for women to thrive.
The initiative will provide women with mentorship, recording, and publishing opportunities through Spotlife Studio Records. Whether they are singers, songwriters, producers, or instrumentalists, female artists are encouraged to reach out and become part of this growing network.
The music industry is evolving, with more female voices breaking through and reshaping the landscape. Simantinee’s initiative seeks to accelerate this progress by fostering a new generation of empowered women in music.
Her personal story is one of resilience and determination. From winning Miss East India and Miss Tripura (India) to trending on iTunes Hindi Pop charts and performing at premier events like the Gaana Music Festival and the North American Bengali Conference, Simantinee has consistently used her platform to uplift others. Her influence extends beyond music, as she was one of five Indian Americans invited to a private reception with the First Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden, highlighting her dedication to community impact.
Female musical artists interested in this initiative are encouraged to contact Spotlife Studio at talent@spotlifestudio.com. Whether they are emerging talents or established performers looking for a new platform, this is an opportunity to connect with a vibrant community that champions women in music.
