With the advent of Covid-19, many offices and institutions have been forced to close or reduce their accessibility to the public. Now that some communities have begun opening, the need for obeying and implementing safety guidelines is increasing.

The best thing to prevent an illness is to prevent its onset. Follow the health guidelines provided by your local government and stay updated on any changes in the Covid-19 situation. It is best to stay at home and cancel your plans of traveling unless it is urgent.

What are the Symptoms of Covid-19?

Symptoms can vary from person to person, but common ones include fever, coughing, shortness of breath. The person infected with Covid-19 can show signs from two to fourteen days after exposure. Coronavirus patients with the extreme condition can develop difficulty breathing. Most people suffer from mild illness and are usually able to recover from home

Here are some guidelines that have been provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Wash Your Hands:

The primary step is to make sure that your hands are always clean. Wash them often throughout the day. It is essential to clean hands after coming home and after sneezing and coughing. Wash them for at least 20 seconds with soap and water.

You can also use a Hand Sanitiser if you do not have access to water but make sure that it has 60% alcohol present. Until you have washed your hands, avoid touching any item in your home. Wash your hands before touching your face.

Keep Adequate Distance from Others:

It is essential to keep yourself distanced from people suffering from Covid-19. Avoid close contact with others without symptoms as they might be able to spread the virus.

It is best to travel only in emergencies and stay home as much as possible. Try to postpone your events involving a huge crowd. You can connect with your loved ones through virtual ways like video calls, texts, and social media.

Cover Your Mouth and Nose:

It has become mandatory in many countries to wear a face mask when going to public places. It can protect you and others from getting infected. Be careful not to cover the face of children under age two and someone who has trouble breathing. It can cause serious health complications.

Practice social distancing along with a face mask. Keep yourself distanced at least 6 feet from others. When sneezing, use a tissue to cover your mouth and nose and throw it immediately. Use Antibacterial Wipes to disinfect your hands after a cough or sneeze.

People who are at Higher Risk:

Early research shows that older adults are at higher risk, especially those living in a nursing or long-term care facility. People who have the following conditions regardless of age are also at increased risk of contracting Covid-19.

Serious Medical Condition:

People with long-term heart, lung, and liver disease. Anyone suffering from moderate to severe asthma. Chronic kidney patients, especially those undergoing dialysis.

Weakened Immune System:

People with a weak immune system can easily fall prey to the infection. Patients undergoing cancer treatment and regular smokers are also at high risk.
