Red Blend, McLaren Vale 2014

$24.99

I spoke to Drew Noon earlier this year. He could not have helped me enough. Drew and Rae Noon are renowned in the wine industry as being as down to earth as there wines.

NOON wines are dry farmed bio dynamically although the wines are not certified they are farmed with out using chemicals. NOON wines are sort after by wine drinkers in the know, as you need to be on there mailing list to insure you get your share each year. Hence there wines are not found in many wine stores around Melbourne. Or you could take a punt and wait for the caller doors to open for just 4 days in November.

Twelve Bells Shiraz Grenache Blend 2014 A medium to dark cherry red colour with a hint of sweet Grenache on the nose at first, with time it seemed to just blend in as the wine developed. The wine is light on entry, building momentum as it opens with lively cherry and strawberries in the mouth with quite a juicy Finish.

This is a wine to be enjoyed and not taken to seriously. Twelve Bells is the fun wine in the Noon stable after that the wines take on a more serious side – complex and built to age, although the back label states 4 to 5 years ageing. I personally have drank the reserve Cabernet Sauvignon with 10 years bottle age and found it to be very very good.
