Due to popular demand, the award-winning hit show VELVET will release an additional week of tickets today for the upcoming Melbourne season. VELVET will commence in Melbourne on 8 June 2017 at The Palms at Crown, and tickets are now available through to 2 July via ticketmaster.com

VELVET has just commenced its 2017 Australian tour in Perth, playing to ecstatic packed houses and receiving rapturous reviews. The West Australian gave it five stars, saying “It was a show with everything. Lights, sparkles, funk, muscles, skimpy outfits, even wind machines; an amusing fusion of disco and circus.” SoPerth.com.au raved about new star Tom Oliver, saying he gives a “wonderful standout performance”, while OutInPerth said, “Both Hines and Oliver never miss a beat with their infallible vocal talent and charming stage presence.”

A sell-out success over the past two years at the 2015 and 2016 Adelaide Fringe Festivals, as well as Edinburgh Fringe, Brisbane Festival, Sydney Opera House and Coopers Malthouse Theatre, VELVET is back to dazzle audiences in Melbourne after a thrilling season last year. Nominated for an ARIA Award and winner of four Adelaide Fringe Awards, including “Pick of the Fringe” and “Best of Fringe”, this year it will play The Palms at Crown.

Director Craig Ilott has created a hedonistic world, pitting dazzling acrobatics against disco divas as this sexy, spectacular, sparkling and slightly sadomasochistic show channels the original Studio 54 nightclub. The international ensemble of circus, cabaret and music talent includes the legendary diva Marcia Hines, actor/singer Tom Oliver who plays the young ingénue lured behind the red velvet rope at the glamorous nightclub that is VELVET, dreamy muscle man Stephen Williams, hula boy extraordinaire Craig Reid, acrobatic wunderkind Mirko Köckenberger, sizzling aerialist Emma Goh, sassy sirens Kaylah Attard and Rechelle Mansour, and musical director and mix master Joe Accaria.

This trip to Boogie Wonderland is a gold-plated hit.” – The London Times, UK

VELVET completely redefines cabaret as a disco inferno … shocks, surprises and scintillates at every turn. Each and every act had the audience roaring with delight.” ***** – Adelaide Advertiser

If you’ve a penchant for disco, sequins, or a damn good show, look no further. Just leave your inhibitions at the door.” – Rip It Up.com

A winning mix of nostalgia, dance music and circus twizz.” – Sydney Morning Herald

“Expect pure, unadulterated fabulousness, liberally sprinkled with sequins and wrapped up in a thumping disco soundtrack.” – City Arts Hub

VELVET shocks, surprises and scintillates at every turn. It’s a party, it’s electrifying, and its exhilarating disco soundtrack never lets up from the opening moment. Each performance invites the audience into an intoxicating glitterball world where the performers and the audience walk the fine line between the romantic and the audacious. VELVET is a fantastic sensory overload – funky, fresh, fun and sexy.
