Brighton-based Nature TV continue their ascent in the indie scene with their latest single, “Meds”. Taken from their much-anticipated debut album, Unlucky for Some (out May 9th), the track showcases their signature neo-soul-meets-indie sound, blending intricate instrumentation with introspective lyricism.
From the opening moments, “Meds” establishes a groove-laden atmosphere, built around chorus-soaked guitars, tight rhythmic patterns, and minor 7th chords that lend it a smooth, almost jazz-inflected feel. The track’s plucky lead lines and subtle harmonic shifts add a layer of sophistication, balancing its buoyant energy with an underlying melancholic depth.
The emotive vocal delivery further amplifies this contrast, drawing the listener into the track’s theme—the duality of medication, both medicinal and recreational. Speaking on the song, the band explains:
“I suppose it’s about drugs. The healing kind and the social ones, mainly the social ones. Because obviously, you should take medicine that helps you, but then lots of people self-medicate with other things. So, is it better to live life with the help of an aid? Or to live in the real world with no help at all? It’s hard to say, but vices can be luxurious and destructive.”
“Meds” is another triumph for Nature TV, seamlessly merging soulful melodies with indie charm while tackling a thought-provoking theme with poetic nuance. As anticipation builds for Unlucky for Some, this single proves the band is more than ready to take their place among the indie heavyweights.
