    Summer is in full swing at the Market and we’ve got plenty in store for an exciting year ahead.

    The Night Market is back each Thursday evening until 28 Feb. Enjoy live music and great food from some of Melbourne’s finest food trucks and stalls. Our NEFF Summer Series cooking classes are the perfect addition to your twilight adventure so gather your friends and make a night of it. Plus, we’re open on Australia Day for all your BBQ needs. We’re also hosting the Port Phillip Mussel & Jazz Festival over the Labour Day long weekend in March and stall applications close next Wednesday!

     

     
     
     
     

    Night Market

    The Night Market is off to a flying start with a smorgasbord of food, stalls, and live music on Cecil and Coventry Streets – there’s something for everyone! Check out the Aptus Oyster Bar Seafood & Soul sessions inside the Market too!

    Open Australia Day

    We will be open Australia Day from 8am – 4pm for all your BBQ goodies. Bring the kids along this Sat 26 January for free face painting in the Food Hall. Cecil Street restaurants will also be open so come down and make a day of it.

    Mussel Festival

    Come feast and dance with family and friends over the Labour Day long weekend on Sat 9 and Sun 10 March at the Port Phillip Mussel & Jazz Festival. Fresh seafood and hot jazz make this street party a favourite with locals and visitors.

    Lunar New Year

    Celebrate Lunar New Year with traditional Lion Dancers as they bring in the Year of the Pig. Join us on Sat 9 February as the lively Lions storm through the Market from 10am-12pm, ushering in good fortune and happiness to all.

    Getting To Know Roy

    This month we get to know retailer Roy Jacobson, who has been at the helm of The South Melbourne Market Grocer for nearly six years. Roy loves chatting with customers about music, AFL, English soccer and obscure brands of hot sauce!

    NEFF Summer Series

    Take some time out from the bustle of the Night Market and learn to make sticky coconut rice parcels with caramelised pineapple. At just $15pp, this fun, 30-minute class is the perfect addition to your Night Market adventure.

    Kids Can Cook

    The kids will cook up a storm these school holidays creating their very own Mexican wraps! In these fun, educational classes, they’ll learn how to make easy, delicious and nutritious recipes that can be recreated at home.

    Stall Opportunities

    Ever wanted a stall at the Market? We currently have some vacancies for permanent stalls, including a Juice Bar and Eatery, and we have regular pop-up opportunities in SO:ME Space and throughout the Market.

    Mick Pacholli

    Mick created TAGG - The Alternative Gig Guide in 1979 with Helmut Katterl, the world's first real Street Magazine. He had been involved with his fathers publishing business, Toorak Times and associated publications since 1972.  Mick was also involved in Melbourne's music scene for a number of years opening venues, discovering and managing bands and providing information and support for the industry. Mick has also created a number of local festivals and is involved in not for profit and supporting local charities.
