Music Victoria Membership Drive 2017 – It’s A Wrap!

Music Victoria would like to thank everyone who signed up or renewed during its 2017 Membership Drive.

‘The Usual Suspects’ video caught the imagination of the music community, who watched it almost 30,000 times in ten days. The Top 10 Victorian Councils for Music list was also a cause of pride and a water cooler topic for ratepayers.

If you didn’t get around to taking the pledge to become a new member or renew, it’s not too late!

You’ve got until Good Friday 14 April to sign up and pay up, with all prizes being drawn Tuesday 18 April. For as little as $33 a year for individuals ($22 for students/concession), and $66 for bands, all signups and renewals will go into the running for a huge range of prizes, including tickets to your favourite venues, record store vouchers, one MASSIVE band prize, professional development prizes and more. Corporate partnerships for small businesses, venues, or non-for-profit
organisations are also available.

If you’d like to know where your well-placed membership fees end up, look no further than Music Victoria’s latest announcements for 2017, including:

*  The newly released 2017 Professional Development Program; and
*  Amendments to the Best Practice Guidelines for Live Music Venues.

The Best Practice Guide update includes the addition of two new chapters: ‘Making your venue accessible‘ written by Arts Access Victoria, and ‘Protecting the environment‘, by Green Music Australia. The updated guidelines reflect the ever-evolving changes in Victoria’s live music landscape.

Next up as part of the Professional Development Program for 2017, a masterclass will run in Geelong on PR, social media & marketing in late April. All fully-fledged members are eligible to attend the masterclass for free, as well as all other workshops, presentations and panel discussions on the program, so sign up now to secure your place.

Music Victoria would also like to congratulate the councils who made it into the Top 10 Victorian Councils for Music. The list was comprised of ten city councils that are leading the way in developing and implementing strategic plans for contemporary music in their community, including providing grants; curating, supporting and funding music festivals; offering local musicians the use of council facilities; and contributing immensely to the Victorian music community.

Your membership fees for 2017 will help Music Victoria continue this vital work for you and your music community.
