Mouth Water Drops New Single “Smoke”

Popular in Entertainment

Out via Through the Void Records April 4th

Nationwide – Italian producer Mouth Water is set to release his newest single, “Smoke,” on April 4th via Through The Void Records. Blending elements of synth-pop and dream-pop, “Smoke” is an immersive sonic experience that transports listeners into a hazy, ethereal landscape of nostalgia and introspection.

“Smoke was born from the urge to tell a story of escape — a quiet rebellion. It’s about a girl trying to leave her past behind, crossing borders with a suitcase full of smoke — a hint that she might not be who she says she is. For me, it’s a hymn to freedom, but also a bitter reflection: today, we can’t truly disappear. The past follows us, even when we think we’ve outrun it.” – Mouth Water

Built on a foundation of lush, layered synths and crisp, mid-tempo drums, “Smoke” showcases Mouth Water’s signature sound—where atmospheric textures meet hypnotic melodies. The track’s dreamy chord progressions and delicate vocal effects envelop the listener, while subtle backing harmonies add depth to its melancholic yet uplifting aura.

Through its mesmerizing soundscape, “Smoke” captures the feeling of drifting through memories, evoking a sense of wanderlust and longing. With its carefully crafted instrumentation and emotionally charged production, the single is poised to resonate with fans of modern synth-pop and electronic dreamscapes alike.

“Smoke” will be available on all streaming platforms on April 4th.

Mouth Water is the brainchild of Italian producer and multi-instrumentalist Lawrence Fancelli. Known for his stylish live shows and high-profile remixes by artists like Lindstrøm and Rhye, Mouth Water is making significant waves in the electronic music scene. His versatile tracks combine modern and vintage sounds, blending house with nostalgic ’80s electro pop, as highlighted in his mesmerizing single, “Blackout” (MusicTech). Mouth Water’s performances are equally likely to make a crowd dance in a club or allow a solitary listener to zone out on their headphones (SPIN).

Lawrence’s journey began behind the scenes as a sound engineer and bass player in New York and Florence, Italy. In 2013, he founded OSB Studio, a recording facility located in a charming old farmhouse in the Tuscan countryside. This studio has hosted numerous artists and bands and serves as the creative base for the Mouth Water project, which debuted in 2019. In 2023, Mouth Water began performing hybrid live sets that showcase Lawrence’s rich background as both a musician and mixing artist. These performances feature a seamless integration of electronic and acoustic instruments, accompanied by custom-made graphic visuals, creating an immersive live experience. Notably, in 2023, Mouth Water opened for Röyksopp at Tenax Club and performed at the renowned Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona in June 2024.

The upcoming Summer 2024 season highlights Mouth Water on tour in Italy with Sophie and the Giants, following his acclaimed Primavera Sound performance. His growing influence is further underscored by appearances on major media outlets such as SPIN, NME’s MusicTech, WeRaveYou, Hotpress, and EDMnomad. In June 2024, Mouth Water released the single “Blackout,” a preview of his forthcoming album slated for release in 2025. This single was followed by four cosmic dub remixes by Norwegian producer Lindstrøm in July 2024, further cementing Mouth Water’s status in the electronic music scene.

With a star on the rise, his unique productions, stylish live shows, and effortlessly elegant sets are leading him towards global dominance. Mouth Water exemplifies the dynamic fusion of traditional musicianship and modern electronic music, promising to enchant audiences with his sophisticated soundscapes and introspective elegance.
