Expressions of Interest open today for Port Phillip’s 2020-21 major events and markets calendar

Individuals or organisations can now apply to be part of Port Phillip’s 2020-21 major outdoor events calendar.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) can be submitted from 5 pm today until 5 pm on Friday 6 December 2019.

Applications are being sought from suitably qualified individuals or organisations wanting to hold outdoor events or markets on Council managed land within the City of Port Phillip between July 2020 and April 2021.

Mayor Bernadene Voss said the range of events offered annually in Port Phillip reflect the diverse interests of the community.

“Port Phillip’s popular calendar of events is enjoyed by residents, and visitors, alike. Each year we aim to deliver a program which is inclusive, engaging and uniquely Port Phillip, making sure there is something for everyone,” Cr Voss said.

“We encourage new applicants to stick their hands up and for everyone to consider the many fantastic locations outside of St Kilda, which can result in reduced costs for organisers.”

Port Melbourne Beach, JL Murphy Reserve, Elwood Carnival Site or Point Ormond Reserve are among the variety of sites suited to different types of events.
While the EOI is focused on capturing the following types of events/markets below, it is open to other activities:• Major events
• Events requiring major road closures
• Long stay events
• Ticketed events attracting over 1000 participants
• Ongoing markets with more than four proposed dates.

While events can be considered outside this process, the EOI forms the basis of the City’s thriving calendar. Additional events will not be assessed until after the EOI process is completed and availability may be limited.
