Welcome to Listen To Older Voices, a program produced by Rob Greaves for Uniting Melba and podcast through the Toorak Times and Tagg.

Listen To Older Voices presents the stories, views and opinions of our older citizens. It is predominantly in a life & times format, with interviewees reflecting upon their lives from earliest memories. An underlying principle of the program is to promote the concept of positive ageing, reinforcing the principle that older people have & continue to make a valuable contribution to both their local & wider community.

Welcome to the first part of a 3-part program featuring the Life and Times of Baby Boomer – Peter Roussos. A first generation Aussie with parents from Cyprus, he spent his formative years living in Carlton, Melb & he fondly recalls the warm community attitudes and many events that happened around him.

Peter shares how his love for drumming came about and how it led to a life of playing professionally with many pop and blues style groups in the 60’s and 70’s, and he still plays occasionally today.

However, despite his love for drumming and music we learn how he came to manage and work in a range of hotels around Melbourne which include some iconic if not notorious hotels, such as the Station Hotel in Prahran – the #1 hotel for liver music during the 1970’s.
