Listen To older Voices: Olive Nicholls – Part 2

[vc_cta h2=”Welcome to Listen To Older Voices, a program produced by Rob Greaves and podcast through the Toorak Times and Tagg” style=”3d” color=”orange”][/vc_cta]
listen to older voices: olive nicholls - part 2This is the second of a 3-part Golden moment repeat program featuring the story of Olive Nicholls.

In part 1 we learned that Olive was born during the Great depression and of the struggle her family and others had with little employment and a lot of stress, not unlike what we are going through just on 100 years later.

Olive served in the navy during WWII and met and married a navy man – Keith Nicholls.

In this program Olive shares some stories involving Keith, who was aboard HMAS Kanimbla when it was torpedoed in Sydney Harbor during WWII.

Olive also reminisces about her working life, particularly the wonderful years she worked at Crawford Film Productions, where she was the Personal Assistant to Dorothy Crawford.

I have been with the Toorak Times since April 2012. I worked as Senior Editor of the Toorak Times until 2023, when I retired. I now work as a special features contributor for both the Toorak Times and Tagg. I've been in the Australian music scene as a musician since 1964, and have worked in radio and TV and newspapers (when they were actually printed on paper) as well as working in the film industry, as the Film Unit manager on Homicide for several years. I also have extensive experience in audio production and editing.
