Welcome to Listen To Older Voices, a program produced Rob Greaves for Wesley Mission Victoria and podcast through the Toorak Times.
Listen To Older Voices presents the stories, views and opinions of our older citizens. It is predominantly in a life & times format, with interviewees reflecting upon their lives from earliest memories. An underlying principal of the program is to promote the concept of positive ageing, reinforcing the principle that older people have & continue to make a valuable contribution to both their local & wider community.
This is the 3rd and final part of the story of 96-year-old Mary Davenport. A well-educated, thoughtful and assertive woman with a great sense of humor, Mary’s stories continue to come thick and fast. In this final part of her story we learn that while many of us talk about writing our story, Mary has done so and, she has had it published. She is also a poet and shares a fantastic piece of her work at the end of this program.
We learn more about her family and her life and she includes a story about how she took on the Australian Tax Office, and won! Yet by the time we get to this story you won’t be surprised at that outcome, because she will have convinced you through her story and achievements that she is organized, knowledgeable, she certainly speaks her mind and she is one very determined woman.
In fact she is a wonderful woman with wonderful stories and a solid life philosophy and her story will inspire and entertain.
