Iconic Australian Artist Ella Hooper now calls Premier Artists home.
After a busy few months, including the release of brand new single ‘To The Bone’, two packed performances at Bigsound, being feature artist all month on Double J and with much more in the works – Ella has made the decision to crank up the focus on her live show and “return home” to Frank Stivala at Premier.
The triumphant return of Killing Heidi, Ella’s other incendiary project, which moved to Premier in early September, spurred a re-evaluation for Ella of the Australian music scene.
“Frank and Premier were instrumental to the earlier success of Killing Heidi and have been tireless champions of many iconic Australian artists that I admire” says Ella.
With a multi-layered media career as well as her music career undergoing constant renewal and reinvention Ella says she took many meetings and had several discussions before deciding the best fit was “a company that understands and can encompass the many outlets of my creativity..”
Ella’s distinctive solo output has garnered attention from taste makers and charts her creative progression post Killing Heidi.
‘Trust one of the most accomplished pop musicians this country has to offer to inject a different kind of ‘dirty’ into new single ‘To The Bone’. One of the most gleefully tactile accomplished paeans to pleasure released this year. Hooper knows the pop machine inside and out, making her a master at deconstructing it’ – Tone deaf
As well as continuously making music Ella regularly appears on TV (The Project, 20 to One, ABC News Breakfast, plus the upcoming Spicks and Specks Australian music special) and is also returning to radio this month, hosting Arvo’s on Double J.
With a kick arse rock band behind her, Ella is right now at the top of her game as a live performer. Sold out shows at The Opera House and Hamer Hall with Joni Mitchell tribute ‘Both Sides Now’ re-catalysed Ella’s love of big rooms, her contribution blowing the roof off.
‘Ella’s stage attack is more refined now than it has ever been, charming all with her acrobatics and persona – a true performer does not begin to describe her power. Similar to how a ballerina can silence a crowd, Ms Hooper can incite their chaos to whatever level suitable.’ – Glamadelaide
Undeniably a powerful woman in music, Ella says she “is only just getting started”, impressive considering her already notable and celebrated body of work. She looks forward to unleashing more new music and projects in the coming months.
