Kelly’s work can only be described as honest and heartfelt, earthy and inspiring.

KELLY’S BLUES

In 2017 Kelly was inspired to enter the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society’s “MBAS Blues Challenge”. Kelly brought together her favourite ‘merry men’, the talented artists she regularly works with and dubbed her group, “The Kelly Auty Band” for the purposes of the competition. The MBAS run the comp each year to find the best possible Victorian Blues Band (and Blues solo/Duo, to represent the MBAS & Melbourne at the annual International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis. The Band competed live in heats, making it through to the finals, in which they received the highest scores, awarding them the MBAS Blues Challenge Band Award & the ticket to the IBC Blues Challenge 2018 in the USA.

As part of their international competition, The Kelly Auty Band recorded “Kelly’s Blues”, an all original Blues live album. In Memphis, the Band played 25mins sets over two nights of quarter-finals with over 240 other artists. A nail-biting day later, it was announced the band had made it through to the semi-finals, along with 80 other artists, which was as far as they would go, an amazing achievement, making the Kelly Auty Band truly and credibly an International level Blues Band. Following the competition, with family and friends in tow, Kelly and her entourage hired a 12 seater van and journeyed north-east to Nashville, then back down through Memphis and into New Orleans. The Band played a number of gigs and jams along their blues music history trail. Their journey was documented on Kelly’s Facebook page.

The ‘Kelly’s Blues’ show goes from strength to strength, performing at many music festivals around Australia, including Wangaratta Festival of Jazz & Blues 2018, and many local & concert venues, to ever-increasing enthralled audiences.

Kelly and her band of brothers, pianist Boris Conley, bassist Max McIntosh and drummer Nick Carrafa with special guest, the legendary Madder Lake Guitarist, Brenden Mason, play a blues, roots, R&B, country mix of their finely crafted originals, smattered with some favourite covers. The night begins with an acoustic set, then the music shifts gear for some good rocking electric energy. One with the lot!!! The five-part harmonies uplift and the crowds join in. There’s ample opportunity to sit and listen or get out of your seat and on your feet when you visit with Kelly and the Band.

Energetic, fun, heartfelt and inspired. Come on down to a show……..
