Jazz Party headline New Years Evie; announce Monday Nights Summer Residency
and ‘Mountain Goat’ B-Side

Melbourne’s beatnik party starters Jazz Party are bracing themselves for a jam-packed festive season off the back of a their heaving Monday Night November residency at Yah Yah’s. The eclectic rat pack now have their sights on one final hoorah to take out 2016 in style, before bringing you another series of Jazz Party Monday Night parties not to be missed in January!

To cap off 2016, Jazz Party will headline New Year’s Evie Festival at Bruzzy’s Farm, brought to you by the crew behind Boogie Festival, rounding off a massive year for the gang of brilliant musicians who have grown from their secret Monday Night parties into the go-to party band at some of the hippest, boutique festivals around the country.

Led by Darcy McNulty, (former saxophonist and songwriter from Clairy Browne & the Bangin Rackettes) and comprising McNulty’s core associates and former players from the Bangin’ Rackettes, double bassist Jules Pascoe (Jaala, Husky) and the incomparable lead vocalist Loretta Miller (The Dusty Millers), Jazz Party’s improvisational and musical wizardry embodies an early rock ‘n’ roll attitude to jazz. Playing a mix of McNulty originals, as well as obscure and well-loved covers, Jazz Party’s repertoire prioritises high-energy hot jazz, straight out of New Orleans.

Built on a foundation of good mates and a ‘no bullshit’ approach, Jazz Party have carved out their own space in the Melbourne music scene through nothing more than their love of honest musicianship. Their raw, authentic craft has graced stages all over Melbourne, playing their often-improvised sets to all sorts of crowds and live music lovers.

Their headline performance on NYE will draw the curtain on a prolific 12 months, which featured a string of Jazz Party Monday Nights, their debut single release ‘Rock n’ Roll Graveyard’ and smokin’ music video clip released a couple of months ago.

With no rest for the wicked, Jazz Party already have an action packed start to 2017 with the announcement of their next string of Jazz Party Monday Nights at The Evelyn in January. Their free Summer residency kicks off on Monday 2 January and runs for five weeks. Jazz Party Monday Nights is the perfect way to push back on the rat race and get loose on a Monday!

Coinciding with Jazz Partys Monday Night residency will be the release of their addictive B-side ‘Mountain Goat’. It’s a sincere nod to McNulty’s drink of choice with lyrics that playfully tease Melbourne’s hipster culture and jazz scene. It’s danceable Calypso rhythms and sensual brass makes it the perfect anthem for summer.
