JAPAN Tour send-off – FREE Record Fair – Bandcamp Friday specials!

Mick created TAGG - The Alternative Gig Guide in 1979 with Helmut Katterl, the world's first real Street Magazine. He had been involved with his fathers publishing business, Toorak Times and associated publications since 1972.  Mick was also involved in Melbourne's music scene for a number of years opening venues, discovering and managing bands and providing information and support for the industry. Mick has also created a number of local festivals and is involved in not for profit and supporting local charities.        

After playing in Australia with Japanese bands such as SISTER PAUL and NEW ROCK SYNDICATE, VELVET PARADE have taken up an offer to tour Japan, playing with these bands and more!

In a recent I-94 Bar review the band has been described as “have a striking intensity which will get into your DNA”. This reviewer reiterating Backseat Mafia‘s live review summation that “The controlled intensity of their performance proved that Velvet Parade know how to build a landscape – one that invites you to sit with your shadows. In late May Velvet Parade take off for a 5-date tour of Japan taking in cities such as Tokyo, Hamamatsu, Yokohama and US base Yokosuka. Full tour details here

Before this Velvet Parade play a one-off headline show at SHOTKICKERS in High Street, Thornbury on Saturday 17th May. Special guests are Death Of Art and NIHL. Tickets are just $15 to send off this local band doing good!

Also just announced is the return of Thornbury Bowls Record Fair for 2025.
This is a free entry event on Sunday 22nd June, doors at 10am, open until 3pm

This very popular record fair is jam packed with trusted vendors selling quality new and pre-loved vinyl, CDs, music DVDs and books. There are a number of first time sellers for this particular record fair, including DJs and private collectors who are downsizing their collections, no doubt to make way for new acquisitions!

Lastly, this Friday is Bandcamp Friday and Kasumuen Records will list some straggling final copies of already sold out releases. There are also only limited copies remining of some releases which are moving quickly such as the Kim Salmon / Masami Kawaguchi duo LP ‘Blossoming’ and the Sacred Cowboys double disc anthology.
