Jacobs Creek 1986 – $1.99

Jacobs Creek $1.99 on special sounds cheap.
Grange was $25.00 a bottle on special sounds cheap.
However, Grange at $25.00 was still a lot for a bottle of wine relative to my weekly pay packet of $160.00
Pay packet;  Reminds me as a teenager when I first started working, we used to stand in line at the office door every Wednesday afternoon and get our weekly wage handed to us in a small cash-filled brown envelope, none of this electronic money transfer rubbish.
I have stated time and time again to anyone that will listen, when I first started to drink this wine;  $1.99 a bottle, I remember it tasted better than today’s offering, after dragging some old bottles from the cellar last week.
I may have discovered the reason;  Jacobs Creek was originally a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. And not the straight Shiraz it is today.
I clearly remember the wine to have soft, round fruit, not too sweet, medium to full-bodied boded subtle tannins and aged well if left in the wine rack undisturbed for years.
