    Celebrate 20 years of Hotel Sorrento

    The award winning play Hotel Sorrento by Australian playwright Hannie Rayson, which inspired the film of the same name, tells the story of three sisters who grew up together in the seaside town Sorrento.  This important piece of Australian Theatre is coming to Gasworks Arts Park from 31 May to 2 June as part of Moving Parts, a mainstage season of theatre. 

    Hilary lives in the family home in Sorrento with her father and 16-year-old son.  Pippa, a businesswoman, is visiting from New York and Meg, a successful writer, returns from England with her English husband.  When the 3 sisters are reunited after 10 years apart they again feel the constraints of family life and all the dramas that eventuate.
     
    This comedy/drama by award winning playwright, Hannie Rayson which inspired the AFI award winning Australian film, starring Ruth Caro as Hilary (Home & Away, The Glass Menagerie), Kim Denman as Meg (All My Love, West Side Story), Joanne Booth as Pippa (Neighbours, House Husbands), Dennis Coard as Wal (Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Let The Sunshine In), Jenny Seedsman as Marge (Inheritance, Patient 12), Sean Rees-Wemyss as Troy (Nowhere Boys, Utopia), and Dion Mills as Edwin (All My Love, Eurydice).
     
    The playwright, Hannie Rayson, is a celebrated Australian playwright and has won awards for a number of her works. Hotel Sorrento alone has afforded her an AWGIE, a NSW Premier’s Literary Award and a Green Room Award for Best Play of 1990.
     
    Producer, Christine Harris, is this year celebrating her 25th year as a significant Australian producer and is dedicated to delivering Australian works to Australian audiences.

    Mick created TAGG - The Alternative Gig Guide in 1979 with Helmut Katterl, the world's first real Street Magazine. He had been involved with his fathers publishing business, Toorak Times and associated publications since 1972.  Mick was also involved in Melbourne's music scene for a number of years opening venues, discovering and managing bands and providing information and support for the industry. Mick has also created a number of local festivals and is involved in not for profit and supporting local charities.
