“An EP that will continue to assert her place as one of the leading Australian vocalists and musicians.” – AU Review (AOTW)

I OH YOU are elated to today release Hayley Mary’s stunning sophomore EP The Drip, with a focus on her joyous new track ‘Sullen Kink’. To celebrate the release, Hayley will also be playing 2 x EP launch shows in Melbourne and Sydney and 2 x solo shows in Victoria across July and August.

The EP track most likely to get you up and dancing, ‘Sullen Kink’ features a blissful composition of nostalgic synths and guitars and one of Hayley Mary’s strongest melodic performances yet.

Written during a period where Hayley was living the quiet life, serving coffee in the drizzly suburbs of Edinburgh, The Drip is an EP about time, place and identity. Experiencing this inverse of the rock’n’roll lifestyle made Hayley better appreciate the very things she’d been running from; home, family, messy Sydney nights, and her media persona as a frontwoman which at times felt jarring and inauthentic. The literal grind of working the coffee machine on the other side of the world somehow provided fertile grounds for songwriting.

“It was a dirty grey day, there was a constant drizzle / As we drank Lucozade, though it was not artisanal / Just a fizzling of orange, the drip inside of me” – ‘The Drip’ lyrics

The result was this new seven-track EP that explores Hayley’s profound reconciliation with her roots. The Drip explodes with the exhilaration of a life revitalised, at turns tender and combative, and driven by Hayley’s high-drama delivery.

The Drip includes recent releases ‘Young & Stupid’‘Would You Throw A Diamond?’‘The Chain’ and title track ‘The Drip’ which have seen support from BACKSEATMAFIA, The Line of Best Fit, Paste, Idolator, NME, Gigwise, The Burning Ear, XS Noise and The Independent along with adds to triple j, Double J, Kink FM (Netherlands) and spins across Amazing Radio (UK) and XS Manchester.

Hayley Mary is thrilled to be taking her new music on the road as she announces EP launch shows for Melbourne and Sydney, plus two very special solo shows in Yarraville and Geelong across July and August.

With The Drip, Hayley has taken the UK’s pervasive love of guitar music, her childhood love of Australiana, punk and pub rock to create an EP that acknowledges the past, while looking to the future. The Drip is grounded with the unshakeable confidence of an artist who has finally found her home, her feet, her true north.
