Graduate Singers present ‘Beneath the Moon’

Graduate Singers – known as Grads – will perform their second 2019 subscription series concert, Beneath the Moon, on Saturday 27 July at 7.30pm at Elder Hall, The University of Adelaide.
Director of Music Karl Geiger has crafted a program that is inspired by the magic and tranquillity of the night. “The night is a time for renewal, for dreaming, and for imagining wondrous possibilities” says Geiger. “This program is rich with music that invites us to dream vividly, and that which evokes rest. From the colourful fantasy of Ola Gjeilo’s Unicornis Captivatur to the quiet serenity of Eric Whitacre’s A Boy and a Girl, this program is reflective of humankind’s eternal fascination with the mysteries, calm, and possibilities inspired by the night.”
To be included on the program are Ēriks Ešenvalds’ evocative setting of Sara Teasdale’s nostalgic poem Only in Sleep and three enchanting nocturnes by young American composer Daniel Elder. The concert will also feature music by two Adelaide composers: Bruce Stewart’s Kepler’s Dream – which explores the relationship between music and the celestial bodies – and Anne Cawrse’s prayerful God Rest Us, from her recently premiered Requiem. Be transported to the world of the night as Grads sing, and dream, beneath the moon.
