Godawan Indian Single Malt 1
Rajasthan, India
$110.00
Godawan is named after the endangered Great Indian Bustard is pictured on the box.
The world’s first luxury single malt whisky from Rajasthan, India.
Aged in selected oak barrels, Godawan 01,
In the glass: An inviting rich, golden hue.
On the nose: It offers a complex bouquet of smoked spices, dried fruits, and a hint of caramel.
I found it to have a robust palate with a malty sweetness mid palate balanced out with some light peppery notes.
The finish was long with a touch of oak and elegant but subtle spices.
I found this whiskey improved with a splash of water to unlock its full array of rich and round flavours.
I enjoyed this whiskey with my version of Tandoori chicken marinated in yogurt and spices overnight and roasted in the wood fired pizza oven in the backyard.
The chicken turned out ok a little spicey as to whether it tasted any thing like a true Tandoori chicken God only knows.
PS. When I say I enjoyed the chicken I really did.
I don’t want to mislead you however my Indian friend seemed to enjoy the chicken and whiskey combo more than I did!
This is one for whiskey drinkers, Well worth trying.
