Girls Rock! WA returns with January 2022 camp! Enrolments now open

Following the success of six Girls Rock! WA camps to date, WAM opens enrolments for the seventh camp to take place in January 2022.

The Girls Rock! program, which originated in the US and is now practised successfully around the globe, is a week-long day camp of band rehearsals, workshops, and fun activities designed to empower and inspire aspiring young female, trans, and non-binary musicians. The program tackles the issue of gender imbalance in the music industry with a focus on the key areas of creativity, positivity, community and empowerment.

Girls Rock! WA Co-ordinator and WAM Audience Development Officer, Em Burrows, says of the program, ‘In the last 12 months we’ve taken Girls Rock regionally (to Kalgoorlie) and seen how it brings people together and creates amazing energy wherever it goes. We’re anticipating our January camp to be one of the biggest and best yet!”

The seventh instalment of the Girls Rock! WA camp will feature a range of specialty workshops with notable WA musicians including song writing with punk singer/songwriter Sara Salt (Nervous) and old-school poster making with Ash Ramsay (Cold Meat/Krimi). The camp will culminate with a showcase performance by all campers at The Bird.
