Rather than an impersonation, Tell Mama! is Karise’s deeply personal interpretation of the artist whose music has shaped her own journey. The evening begins with an intimate acoustic set inspired by Janis’s early folk-blues recordings before building into a full-scale concert featuring Karise’s powerhouse band.
From iconic anthems including Piece of My Heart, Cry Baby, Move Over, Try (Just a Little Bit Harder) and Me and Bobby McGee, to lesser-known gems that reveal Janis’s remarkable artistry, the production celebrates a catalogue that remains as vital today as ever.
The show also features Karise’s original song, Tomorrow, inspired by Janis’s Kozmic Blues, creating a moving bridge between two artists united by fearless emotional honesty and a shared belief in music’s power to tell the truth.
Following sold-out performances, Tell Mama! is more than a celebration of an icon. It is a revival of timeless songs through the voice of one of Australia’s most distinctive performers.
Whether you’ve loved Janis for decades or are discovering her for the first time, Tell Mama! proves great songs never belong to just one generation.
