STU THOMAS “FutuRetro” art exhibition 29/6 – 11/7/24

June 29 @ 1:00 pm - July 11 @ 4:00 pm AEST

Stu Thomas’ 3rd solo exhibition is called “FutuRetro”.
Opening Saturday 29 June from 1 – 3pm. Stu will perform music at the opening. Showing until 11 July 2024. All works for sale.
This exhibition is part of Louis Joel Gallery’s series of art by musicians.
“FutuRetro” shows new and early works from Stu Thomas. There are paintings, carvings and assemblage, from 1989 to 2024. The bulk of the gathered works have never been exhibited, including Stu’s earliest oil painting (from ’89). On display is the development of Stu styles across the decades, and also a return to earlier methods.
This feeds into the ideas present in “FutuRetro” :
Nostalgia for a past idea of the future;
Today is tomorrow’s yesterday;
We will arrive where we started.;
Back is way forward….
Stu Thomas has held 3 solo shows, his first in 2017, and his work has been shown in many group shows since as far back as 2001. His work is represented in many private collections across Australia, and also in the USA.
Artist talk/Performance on Sun 7 July at 1pm.
