Sony Studio Workshop – Melbourne (Multiple Sessions)

April 9 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

A workshop event where attendees will shoot models and live wildlife in a studio setting with pros Jay Collier and Chris Bowes.

Have you ever wanted to give studio photography a go, but didn’t even know where to start? Or maybe you already do some studio work, but are looking for some inspiration.

Digidirect, Sony, Protog, and Vitec have all partnered together to give aspiring commercial photographers and seasoned pros a “behind the scenes” studio experience at the Sheraton Melbourne Hotel. Book a ticket now to join Friends of Sony Jay Collier and Chris Bowes in the Sony Alpha Studio right in the heart of the city.

Your ticket gives you access to two studio sessions rooms, tonnes of Sony loan gear on the day, and a wealth of photographic knowledge. You will work in small groups of 5 in order to maximise access to the subjects and pro photographers.

In the first studio room, Jay Collier, a wildlife photographer specialising in African wildlife photography, will be hosting the Wildlife studio (sponsored by Vitec). Jay will take you through his process of capturing Australian native animals including reptiles, birds, insects, and marsupials. You will have the opportunity to photograph these unique animals in a purpose-made studio setting, utilise tethering, work with Jay, and more.

In the second room, Chris Bowes will be hosting the Fitness/Fashion studio (sponsored by Protog) where he will share his insights into using constant lighting, directing models, and working towards a client brief. Chris is a portrait-based image maker who teaches Photography at RMIT and has regular exhibits across Australia. Nanlite PavoTubes and Forza units will also be on show for demonstration in this studio.

If you are the kind of person who prefers to learn by doing and are keen to collaborate with like-minded photographers, don’t pass up this opportunity to upskill and expand your horizons as a photographer. All guests will have the opportunity to use the latest Sony gear, work in small groups, and get special offers on the day.

Guests can bring their own equipment, or are welcome to bring just an SD card and use the Sony loan gear on the day (or a mix of both).

Book now, as tickets are limited and will sell out quickly.
