In the glass: Bright red fruit from the two varieties meld seamlessly in the glass and in the mouth.
On the nose: Pepper, anise, dried flowers with raspberry and kitchen spices build in the glass over time.
Palate: Fine, silky pinot noir tannins add layers and flesh to the shiraz with its subtle pepper and spice. The wine has a crunchy texture, and good acidity wrapt around silky Pinot Noir tannins.
This is a drink now style I would not hold on to it any more than two years as it’s the clean fruit freshness that sets this wine apart from the rest making this a no-brainer when it comes to food.
Anything you would eat with a lighter style Shiraz or a richer body Pinot Noir, it’s all here in one bottle.
A very interesting wine, with a hint of complexity, this will be my summer red to enjoy with pan-fried lamb cutlets or New Zealand salmon on the BBQ.
Wine fact: the full-bodied Shiraz grape is the Great-grandchild of the silky and translucent Pinot Noir.
