“O Briain has a laser eye for the absurd and the spurious” – The Guardian

Dara O Briain, one of the most charismatic, intelligent, fast-talking and downright funny live performers working today, will return to Australia for the time in over a decade in April 2017.   Dara is back doing what he does best with two special shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

The king of audience interaction once again takes to the stage where he relishes exchanging ultra-rapid fire quips with members of the audience, and delivers witty and daring anecdotes like no other stand-up comedian.

As well as his masterful stand-up work, Dara is one of the most recognisable faces on British TV, as host of the hugely successful Mock The Week, The Apprentice – You’re Fired and Stargazing Live.  Not forgetting his most recent shows Dara O Briain: School of Hard Sums for Dave and Dara O Briain’s Science Club for BBC2

In 2012 Dara had the honour of both presenting the 2012 BAFTA TV Awards on BBC ONE as well as himself being a nominee.

Other notable television work sees Dara as an integral member of the Three Men in a Boat, alongside Griff Rhys Jones and Rory. Since 2011, Dara has co-hosted BBC1′s astronomical show Stargazing Live alongside Professor Brian Cox the latest installment of which will broadcast from Australia in March 2017. Dara is one the few performers to host successful comedy shows in both the UK and his native Ireland at the same time.  He started his career in television as a children’s presenter on RTÉ whilst performing his first stand-up gigs on the Irish comedy circuit, after studying at University College, Dublin, where he studied Mathematical Physics.

Dara has also previously released five classic stand-up DVDs, Crowd Tickler (2015), Craic Dealer (2012), This Is The Show (2010), Dara O Briain Talks Funny Live In London (2008) and Dara O Briain Live at the Theatre Royal (2006). Dara’s first book Tickling the English, released in 2009, proved to be an instant hit, remaining in the charts for nigh on two years after release.

Part travelogue, part tour diary, the result is an affectionate, hilarious and often eye-opening journey through the sceptered Isle. His latest book will be a look at the solar system for children, published in Autumn 2017 entitled Beyond The Sky (Scholastic).
