Bayside Senior’s Festival Reimagined 2020

Bayside City Council proudly presents the 17th year of the Bayside Seniors Festival. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s festival will be coming live to living rooms with a program full of especially curated content. We are delighted to be hosting three arts-focused events as part of this festival, make sure you book your spot.

Bear Hug Brooches with Cat Rabbit

Date: Sunday 25 October at 3:30pm

Cost: $30 (includes all materials for two participants and postage to two separate locations)

Grandparents can come together online with their grandchildren and celebrate Seniors Month, Children’s Week, and our upcoming exhibition, The Soft Library by Cat Rabbit. Join us for a delightful afternoon workshop with one of Australia’s foremost textile artists. In this online workshop you and your grandchild, or special child in your life will work with Cat to make a unique bear hug brooch for you each. Your brooches will work beautifully on their own, and can come together in a bear hug when you can see each other again. A beautiful keepsake to treasure.

Join us for an exclusive behind the scenes tour with Bayside Gallery Curator Joanna Bosse as we explore the newest exhibition, Greenworld.  

In Greenworld, painting, photography, collage and sculptural works by renowned artists provide moments of reflection on nature as a restorative force in our lives. Artists share their connection to the earth, the sky, nature’s lush foliage, its crystallised minerals and its medicinal provisions; celebrating the natural world’s capacity to nurture both physically and spiritually.

Artists: Wona Bae and Charlie Lawler, Naomi Eller, Nicole Foreshew, Teelah George, Joiwind Lowe, James Morrison, Betty Muffler.

Artist Talk and Tour with Debbie Symons

Thursday 29 October, 10:30am

Free Event

Join Billilla Artist in Residence, Debbie Symons for an exploration of her work investigating endangered bird species. This will be followed by a tour of the local flora and fauna in the Bayside area from an expert in the field.

Mick Pacholli

Mick created TAGG - The Alternative Gig Guide in 1979 with Helmut Katterl, the world's first real Street Magazine. He had been involved with his fathers publishing business, Toorak Times and associated publications since 1972.  Mick was also involved in Melbourne's music scene for a number of years opening venues, discovering and managing bands and providing information and support for the industry. Mick has also created a number of local festivals and is involved in not for profit and supporting local charities.
