congratulations to victorian awards finalists

The time has come to reward and celebrate excellence once again. We are pleased to announce that three teams from VBCS were named Victorian Awards finalists at the end of the year, concluding a year-long selection process.

The SCA (VIC) Pillar Awards are designed to shine a spotlight on excellence in the strata industry. Nomination submissions are invited throughout the year from all parties that are involved n the strata industry. Individuals, businesses, and suppliers alike all have the opportunity to compete for this prestigious award. Attaining this award serves more than highlighting excellence in the strata industry. It also boosts recognition and helps to create more opportunities.

VBCS (Victoria Body Corporate Services) is a strata business whose expertise lies in Owners Corporations. They have had more than 40 years of experience in the ever-changing world of the strata industry. They aim to continue providing superior services with innovative solutions for the satisfaction of their clients.

SCA(VIC) Pillar Awards appreciates the dedication given by companies, individuals and businesses to the strata industry. They take those who have proven to be a cut above the rest and highlight their accomplishments and industry contributions while rewarding their merit.

The awards fall into two main categories: individual and business. The business category award finalists are active members of the strata community whose influence and contributions have positively affected the industry. Meanwhile, the individual category finalists have demonstrated leadership, innovation, and drive to build and nurture their personal and business growth.

Of the seven nominations brought forward for the individual category and 4 in the strata business category, VBCS had three nominations:

  • Madeline Fawke, Customer Service Team Leader- Support Team Member
  • Peter Davies, State Manager- Essay Award
  • VBCS- Large Strata Community Management Business

VBCS focused its energies this last year on investing in more technological advancement to provide more streamlined results to its clients and staff members. The technology has served to make the workloads of community managers more concise by eliminating administrative choke points. With less time taken up in administrative tasks, managers have more interaction with the community, thus providing better services. Therefore, both staff and clients are beneficiaries.

Peter Davies, VBCS State Manager, has had a long tenure in the strata industry. He is well-respected and has earned insight into the industry. In his essay, a thesis on ‘Strata in Victoria-2020 A Year of Change and Technological Progress’, he presented some insight on the impact of last year’s events. On this topic, Peter writes, “The events of 2020 have impacted us in so many ways and on so many levels that it is almost beyond comprehension. For strata, one of the biggest and most challenging- and at the same time most entertaining impacts- was our very rapid and unprecedented transition to virtual meetings. In all the meetings I’ve attended over the years, I don’t recall ever closing a meeting in the manner we do now. But it is 2021, and this is the new norm. Now we all wave goodbye to each other.”

Perhaps the fact that our SCA (VIC) Pillar Awards For Excellence Ceremony annual gala dinner was held as a virtual event instead because of lockdowns is very fitting punctuation to Peter’s sentiment.

Regarding the VBCS finalist nominations, Peter said, “I’m so proud of the entire VBCS team. How they quickly adapted to change and conducted business as usual under trying circumstances was a credit to all of them. We are finalists, but we’re winners too.”

Customer Service Team Leader Madeline Fawke leads a team of seven staff whose duties within VBCS include key distribution, insurance, compliance management and reception duties, among others. They are vital in assisting community managers, thus keeping their workloads at manageable levels and helping to maintain efficiency across the board.

Together with her team, Madeline is proud of the work they do behind the scenes. She understands that, while their clients see nothing but organisation and efficiency on the surface, she is ultimately responsible for managing the chaos in the background. Her team’s efforts make the surface appear impressively calm and serene.

Madeline had this to say about her position,” What I learned during the pandemic is that people react differently to change. Some need more support and mentoring, and that’s ok. My team’s mental well-being was a key priority for me because without them performing to their best, the domino effect would have hit the managers, then the clients. That wasn’t an option. At the end of the day, I want to inspire my team, and everyone in business, to love their job as much as I do. We’re lucky to have jobs and fortunate to be employed by a caring company. I love what I do.”

VBCS’s three finalist nominations in the Victorian Awards are a megaphone for our brand’s strength and the dedication with which we execute our services. We aim to continue learning, evolving and excelling so that our clients are always availed of the best here is to offer. We are proud of our team members and would like to extend our congratulations to the finalists and the company as a whole.
